You begin the course with the solid core training you'll need to excel in stunt work. Then, you'll continue through ever more advanced aerial stunts under constant direction by our experienced teaching staff.

Our curriculum is designed to be self reinforcing. Every one of the many skills and training drills apply directly to all of your stunt work. The core skills you'll learn in your first days of training will help you master highly advanced stunt work later in the course.

Our aerial training is divided into two major, interrelated skill areas: Free Flight Aerial Stunt Work and Wire Work.

Free Flight Aerial Stunt Work

Students learn safe landing, falling, and crashing in every way imaginable. Students will learn front, back, side and off axis flipping and twisting techniques on floor mats, trampoline and mini-tramp. Students will train basic martial arts movement, comedy stunts, pratfalls, and fight choreography. This core training will help you develop and refine the air sense and body control you need to safely and consistently accomplish advanced stunt work.

Students will learn how to put everything together with free running movement drills and scene choreography. You'll learn how to crash into, onto, out of, under, over and through walls, ceilings, floors, stairs, and other obstacles. You'll train low, medium, and high falls onto resi-pits and air bags. You'll train advanced free flight on air ram and Russian Swing. All free flight training is done in Gleason's Gymnastic School's state-of-the-art 30,000 square foot gymnastic facility.

Wire Stunt Work

Students will learn proper harness fitting, correct equipment use and identification, and the how and why different systems are used. Students begin their wire work training with a solid series of single point pendulum stunts. Students will learn correct takeoffs and landings, turns and spins, and basic wire-fu. Students then progress to all types of body takeoffs and landings, wire work up to and down from various objects, and drags and slides. Students will learn front and back flipping and various kinds of Chinese wrap. Students will utilize single, multipoint and tracked flying systems to learn wall work: Walking, running, sliding, climbing, flipping on, onto, off of, over, and through walls, ceilings and floors. You will train advanced action wire work alongside aerial ballet. You'll train on multipoint custom wire setups to learn marionette work, multi-person aerial interaction, "swooping" and various kinds of horizontal and vertical "Superman" style flight for both green screen and live action wire work. You will train advanced wire-fu fight choreography, learn to do several wire moves in a single take, and learn how to choreograph a multi-person wire-fu scene.

Our students train ratchet work on our state-of-the-art Fisher Technical Systems F-515 Flying Winches, allowing you to learn ratchets safely and progressively.

By utilizing flying winches, students can practice more pulls with more comfort and unprecedented safety. Flying winches allow us to vary the acceleration, speed, and distance traveled of each ratchet pull, allowing us to tailor our students advancement on a per student basis, letting students advance at their own pace. Students will learn everything from short and long stroke ratchet work to multi-axis wraps over incredible distances.

In addition to unique ratchet training, we also use our flying winches to train decelerators as no one else can. Unlike a traditional fan decelerator, which can take up to 30 minutes to reset, our flying winches reset in seconds, allowing our students to get real, substantive training on deceleration stunts.

Individualized Demo Reel

Throughout the course, students will be constantly photographed and recorded in High Definition digital video by our professional cinematographer. A few weeks after the course, you will receive a personalized CD of high resolution photographs and a DVD demo reel showcasing 1 minute of your best stunt work from throughout the course. The demo reel DVD is unique to each student, edited to music, and ready to copy and distribute to coordinators and casting directors.

In addition, selected photos, a short bio and resumes, your head shot and your 1 minute demo reel will be hosted on our website.
